Resuscitation of Dnipro hospital after Mechnikov is overfilled with COVID infected: medicals resort to tracheotomy
After September 23, Dnipropetrovsk Region got leadership in morbidity with COVID-19 among Ukrainian regions. It’s the first time the region got anti-record with 298 infected.
According to Sergey Ryzhenko, the chief physician of Dnipropetrovsk Regional hospital by Mechnikov, intensive care unit is overfilled with infected people. That’s why currently we are talking about pre profiling of operating rooms into intensive care.
“Nowadays we have 55 patients, 15 of them are in serious condition. Moreover we had to resort to tracheotomy to save the lives of 7 citizens who are in critical condition. Nowadays we are forced to equip one more hall for intensive care because available resuscitation is overfilled with patients”, - he said.Sergey Ryzhenko accents that daily morbidity in over 300 infected with COVID-19 may cause lack of hospitals in the region.
“In this case we will have to use some large civil buildings such as football halls. COVID is especially dangerous for people who are over 60 years old. They need additional treatment in intensive care and intensive care units”, - head physician adds.
